How 8-Minute Meditation Exercises Can Release the Stress and Muscles

Many people currently practice some form of meditation as a means of stress relief. By definition, "meditation" is a practice in which an individual trains the mind or induces a mode of consciousness to realize some benefit. Meditation includes a wide variety of practices which range from techniques designed to promote relaxation, build internal energy or get closer to God to more technical exercises targeted at developing compassion, love, patience, generosity or forgiveness. Meditation is said to be of Vedic Hinduism origin. While in the past this has usually been practiced primarily in Eastern religions, Western cultures are becoming more interested and involved in such activities.
Many Americans are now practicing some form of meditation. A study by the U.S. government found that over 20 million U.S. adults had practiced meditation within the past 12 months. According to Time Magazine, there is one meditation practice that can be used by almost anyone. This can be considered as the basic primer for people who want to begin meditation but who have no idea where to start.

Mr. Davich has practiced meditation for more than thirty years and studied with some of the finest teachers. This book offers a simple, no-nonsense program to help beginners experience reduced stress and increased focus in only eight minutes a day.

Almost every person who starts anything new will often have unanswered questions or doubts. This program teaches the basic principles of meditation while addressing the misconceptions and myths that too often get in the way. The best thing to do is to confront your pre-conceived positive or negative expectations, and after doing so, forget about them and start with a clean slate. If you want to try the 8-minute program of meditation, you should learn how to approach it one step at a time.

Many people believe that meditation is a simple practice. While this is primarily true, it does require discipline. Your mind is always racing from one idea to another and you find it almost impossible to concentrate. According to Mr. Davich, the very first step toward meditation is to pay attention to your breathing. Breathe deeply and relax your inhalation and exhalation. If you always do this and keep on practicing, you can quickly become good at meditation.

As a beginner to meditation please remember: if you find your mind straying off course, focus again on your breathing. Meditation is primarily about concentrating and if you realize that you are not on the right track, you can always return to that state of mind gently. Do not get discouraged easily and just keep on practicing. There is a popular maxim, "practice makes perfect"; so always keep that in mind. If you quit easily, then you will remain a quitter.
